HealingChoice Family Therapy

HealingChoice™ is a Christian umbrella organization for several types of therapeutic care. Founded in 2005, HealingChoice was initially born out of the Tanners’ work in ministry. They have a deep care for those who are working in ministry or have left ministry for some reason. To learn more about their work with ministry families click here.

As HealingChoice grew and developed, the Tanners broadened their work to people who are struggling with relationship issues, stress, depression, and anxiety, among other mental health difficulties. In 2014, they opened the first HealingChoice clinic in Lubbock, TX, offering mental health services to the public while also continuing their work in ministry.

At HealingChoice, our work with our clients is primarily focused on the Christian mandate to “love one another” (John 13:34). Thus, we feel it is our mission to love all people regardless of their struggle in life, sexual identity, or view of religion.

Our Vision

HealingChoice helps people find their path to healing through compassionate, evidence-based care and meaningful relationships. We believe healing happens in spaces marked by safety, trust, and hope. Grounded in research-informed practices and deep respect for each person’s story, we meet people where they are—without shame or pressure—and walk with them at a pace that honors both courage and capacity. As a relational organization built on character, competence, and care, we value integrity, collaboration, and cultural humility. We are committed to fostering environments where both clients and clinicians can grow and thrive.

Who We Are

HealingChoice is a relational organization built on character, competence, and care. Our team values integrity, humility, collaboration, and curiosity. We prioritize healthy working relationships, reasonable autonomy, and clear expectations. We seek to minimize unnecessary bureaucracy so that our time and energy are focused on people rather than processes. We are committed to diversity, inclusion, and cultural humility, recognizing that healing takes place within families, communities, and systems.

Our Values

Guiding Principles At HealingChoice Family Therapy, we are dedicated to fostering a compassionate, ethical, and innovative environment where client-centered care, professional excellence, collaborative teamwork, and community engagement drive our mission. We embrace diversity and inclusivity, prioritize sustainable growth, and balance our dedication to service with the well-being of our team. Through these commitments, we strive to make a profound and positive impact on the lives of our clients, their families, and the broader community. Honor People— We honor clients, colleagues, and ourselves in every interaction. Empathy in Action— We demonstrate compassion through response, not just intention. Aspire to Excellence— We pursue continual growth in clinical skill and professional presence. Relationship First— We believe healing happens inside strong, safe, connected relationships. Together we heal— Collaboration, communication, and shared purpose define our team.

How We Practice

We provide trauma-informed, relationship-centered care that integrates science and compassion. Our clinicians are committed to ongoing growth, consultation, and ethical excellence. We believe strong clinical work is supported by teamwork, reflection, and shared learning. Excellence is cultivated through supervision, feedback, and a culture that values both accountability and support. We view therapy not as a transaction, but as a guided process toward greater clarity, connection, and resilience.

The Change We Exist To See

Our long-term vision is to be a trusted regional leader in trauma recovery, relationship health, and clinician development. We envision individuals living with greater freedom, relationships marked by safety and repair, families growing in connection, and communities strengthened by emotionally healthy leaders. Our aim is simple and enduring: to help people move from survival to healing, and from healing to wholeness.

How We Invite People Into Care

We understand that seeking help often follows pain, loss, or disorientation. Rather than pressuring people to change, we aim to make it safe and clear to take the next step. We serve as guides, helping individuals, couples, and families understand their options and move toward healing with informed choice and dignity. We are especially committed to reducing stigma around mental health, including within faith communities.
